Only in Oklahoma Part 2

Only in Oklahoma...do people think that green sauce is guacamole.

Today I went to Taco Bell to pick up some lunch. I like their Bean Burritos with green sauce. I asked them if they had green sauce.

The lady responded, "Like guacamole?" in a way southern accent. I responded, "No, it is like red sauce." She responded back, "No, but we have guacamole."

Only in Oklahoma...do you hear advertisements on the radio for cattle reproductive services.

Exams vs. Household Issues

Well, it seems that every time I have an exam I need to study for, something goes wrong. I posted in May about our stupid toilet that messed up my studying time to night before a final. Well, on Monday Jason call to tell me that the bed fell. The board that holds the support beams going across broke. Jason and I thought it would be an easy fix. We were wrong. Let's just say after several tries, we ended up pulling our mattress into the Living Room and went to bed. I, of course, had an exam on Tuesday (I do not think it went as well as the exam that I had last week which I got a 100% on. I am very proud of myself. Sorry) So if for some reason you stop by my house, do not be surprised to see a mattress taking up my living room floor because right now, fixing that bed is not on my priority list (hence on Jason's priority list). I have a ton of other stuff I need to do.

BUT on the other hand, this is what I came home to after a long day of work on Monday

I knew that I had a long night ahead of me (this was before dealing with the bed, so it turned out to be an even longer night), Jason was cooking dinner (which he usually does on Mondays and Tuesdays), but he also had the table set up with a tablecloth, placements, and glass goblets. He had bought Martinelli's, all just because. I was almost in tears when I saw it. It was very sweet of him. It made my evening. It was just what I needed. This meal was a 180 degrees from several weeks ago meals that he "made"-Eggos: just eggos, nothing else, and another meal of heating up some Smart Ones. He still "cooked" though, and I did not have to do anything. I love this man so much. He is a hard worker. He is the extra inches that I do not have, and he loves me (and shows it)!

A Visit with the Gores

Jason's brother and his family came out to Oklahoma last week to see their oldest graduate from Basic Training with the Army. We were fortunate enough to have them stay with us for a night. Jason and I drove down to Ft. Sill (which is 2 1/4 hours southwest from here) last Thursday so that we could see our nephew graduate. Unfortunately, none of the pictures I took inside turned out.
Clay is the third face back in this picture.

We had lots of fun hanging out with family and we were able to bring Clay home with us because he had a weekend pass and it was a 3 day weekend.
The one in the center of the picture

His brothers had fun wearing his beret (I think that is what they call this)

Brad and Bonnie discover a cool wooden park in Lawton that Bonnie and I took the kids to while Jason and Brad waited for Clay to be processed. The great game of "Hurry up and wait" with the military.

I am grateful for Clay's desire to serve his country. Ever since I have known him he has wanted to go into some branch of the military. We are grateful for all the men and women that serve our country.

8 years ago marked a day that changed history. 8 years ago I found myself in my high school library (as we did each morning after Seminary and before school), but something was different. The TVs were on. Why were the TVs on? They were never on in the library. I do not know if it was my age or maybe my immaturity, but as I saw what was taking place on TV I did not at first comprehend what all of it meant. I was shocked so maybe that had to do with my confusion. Who knows. Through the years, we as Americans have learned what it meant. Do we still remember though? Have we forgotten? Do we remember what his country was originally founded on?
