Thanksgiving 2009

We started off our day by going on a 7 mile hike. It was very enjoyable. My sister and her family were out of town for two weeks. We were able to watch their dog, Bauer, while they were gone. He did amazing on the hike, and Jason loved having him around. *Side story* One evening I took him on a walk by myself. We were "followed" for two blocks. I was so nervous, and he was acting up also. He could tell something was not right and kept looking back at the car. This car was going the same speed as us for over two blocks. I just kept walking faster and faster. Bauer was very protective, and I knew that he was assessing the situation. Well, it turns out that is was some old lady wanting to know how to get to Highway 51. By the time I had figured this out, I was 100 yards in front of the vehicle, I saw the woman's shadow in her headlights, and I heard her ask "Where is Highway 51?" I did not respond. I was so worked up. My mind was not working properly. All I could think after that was, "Why would you follow someone at night for two blocks, going less than 5 miles an hour and then decide to ask for directions?!" It made no sense to me. *Back to Thanksgiving* After our hike, we went home and prepared dessert and got the ham in the oven for Thanksgiving. Our friends, the Sprinkle's, invited us over. Amy and I decided that we like ham better than turkey. Our Thanksgiving was turkeyless. It was a nice quiet evening with just us and their precious baby girl. Thanks Amy and Wes.

Jason and I did receive a turkey from our Bishop. I have never cooked a turkey better. After a few phone calls to my mom and some You Tube videos that were no help, we had a cooked turkey Saturday evening. It turned out very well. It really is not all that bad once you know what you are doing. Next year, I will not be so hesitant.

Amy's Shower

***I have finally played catch-up...Blogger overload

I was able to help throw a shower for one of my friend's Amy. She had a beautiful baby girl, Sophia, 2 1/2 weeks ago. She got some cute gifts. I love girl stuff. I have been surrounded by girls my whole life. I came from a family of four girls; I was a nanny for four girls. I worry about what kind of job I will do as a mother to boys. They are just so different. Back to the subject at hand, we had fun and I hope Amy enjoyed her shower.

Mom and Dad Come to Visit

Both of my parents have been out to visit two of their kids in Oklahoma several times, but never together except for right after my sister moved out her. Some of my sister's friends had asked if my sister if they were divorced. While they were here, we did a lot of fun things. We were able to go to the Oklahoma City Memorial. They did a very nice job. We did not go inside, but the outside was just breath taking. Jason and I want to go back sometime at night when it is lit up. We also went to the Science Museum in Oklahoma City. This place is amazing. Everyone had fun, the one year old to the 62 year old. Jason and I want to go back. We were there for 3 hours and only got through half of it.

I just wanted to post this picture. While my parents we here, I was able to get Eliza's hair in piggy tails. She looked so cute.

We had a lot of fun with my parents and are excited to see them for Christmas.

Visitors

Several weeks ago, Jason and I played hostess for two nights in a row. One of Jason's friends from back in Virginia, Katie, and her family were passing through Oklahoma and stayed with us for a night. It was my first time meeting her and her family and we had a lot of fun. Unfortunately being a horrible person at remembering to take pictures, we did not get any pictures.


The next night, one of my friends from back in elementary school, roommates, and bridesmaid, Barbie, was moving from Utah to Virginia and stayed with us for the night. We had not seen each other in years. We were able to visit with her and her sister for a few hours that night. It was so good to see them.

I really need to be better at keeping in contact with people. There are so many people I need to get in touch with. It is not you; it is me. I am HORRIBLE.

Football

Jason talked me into getting season tickets this year for OSU Football. It has been fun. We have had the extremes in weather this season from the 100s to the 30s. We had 8 home games (the last being tonight which I am missing because I got sick). I think I only made it to 4 1/2 games. It is fun to be with the fans and see some of the crazy ones, like this one.

Proud, not prideful

I am proud of myself. I received 104% on an exam that I had yesterday. We had such a busy weekend (more posts to come. I am not proud of my blogging updates though). Friday night we went to a Halloween party, Saturday was a home football game which I ended up not going to due to studying. I did get to go tailgating for a little bit though. Sunday was church and we had company Sunday and Monday night. My house finally got clean and I got a 104 on an exam. Life is good. After this semester, only 11 classes to go. That seems like a lot, but I plan on being done next December.
