Sledding

I apologize; its a pictureless post. Yesterday Jason and I went sledding by my work. We did not bring the camera because we did not want it to get ruined. It was fun while it lasted. Our sled was amazing. My first run down, Jason barely gave me a push, and I went zooming. I went further than anyone else out there. Jason went down next and told me that the sled was breaking. We still had a couple more runs to go. I was not leaving yet. We went down together next. That was a lot of fun. Some one brought their dog, and the dog would often run along side me as I went flying down the hill. After a total of maybe 5 runs between Jason and I, I went down the hill and the dog followed. Next thing I know he is biting at my arm. I could feel his teeth through my big Columbia jacket. Looking back at it now, I do not think he was doing it to be harmful, but it scared me. I became hysterical immediately.
My senior year of high school, I was attacked by my friend's dog whom I had know for months. I did nothing to this dog. I was at my friend's house watching a TV show. When the show ended, I got up to leave to go home. Well, apparently the dog did not want me to leave and jumped up and bite my right elbow. I was wearing a thick jacket and the dog bite went through skin. It was not horrible. I just bleed for a little bit.
When this dog bite me yesterday, it was in the same exact spot that I was bite 7 years ago. I am okay. I have no marks from this dog bite. After the dog bite me, I jumped off my sled and started screaming to the everyone at the top of the hill, "Who's dog is this? Get him away from me!" Everyone probably thought I was a psycho. Jason came down and found out what happened. The dog owner shortly followed suit. We decided to do one last run together and then leave. So if you were on the hill at Hall of Fame and Western yesterday, I was the psycho who freaked out.

Checklist

  • Prepare for Christmas
  • Mom and Dad come to visit
  • WHITE Christmas at Erica and Tim's
  • Dejunking-It feels so nice to get rid of things you no longer need that take up space
  • Read lots of books
  • New Year's
  • Train for 5K on March 6th, Half Marathon on May 15th (and trying to decide if I want to be gutsy and sign-up for St. George Marathon in October)
  • January Book Club
  • Start a new semester which should be my LAST Spring Semester (one more Fall semester to go)
  • Realize that Accounting is not as objective as it seems
  • Explain to professor that I am not questioning his authority. I am just the type of person that cannot take, "This is the answer." I have to truly understand how to formulate the answer even if it takes some explaining. He said as a professor he admires that.
  • Catch-up on blogging with pictures...NOT DONE

My camera is not with me; otherwise, I would post actual posts with pictures. More to come.

Time for an update

If you have not noticed, I finally updated our blog photo. I have been waiting for this photo for months. It turned out so good. The old picture was over two years old. I think I am finally going to have to actually print a picture and frame it. Jason and I do not have too many printed pictures of us. This one is worthy of a frame.

Here is another, but I like the other one better.

Jason's Quirkiness

Hopefully he does not mind me posting this, but I thought that since I had shared something about me, I would share something about Jason which some of you might not find surprising. Jason can pack away a lot of food. This past weekend, my sister and I went out shopping while Jason stayed at her house with the sleeping kids. I got a call from him saying he was hungry. I called him back to let him know what his choices were. He told me he wanted 3 McDoubles and 2 Chicken Sandwiches. Erica said to me, "Did he just ask for 4 sandwiches?!" I replied, "No, he asked for 5." I do not know how he does it.
Yesterday, I picked up a 6 pack of Jalapeno and Cheddar brats. He ate 5 for dinner. Now, I can pack away a lot of calories during the day, but I am a snacker. When I decide to go to McDonald's and "pack away" some calories, I get a McDouble, small fry, and small drink. This has not happened in awhile. I just cannot eat a ton in one sitting, but Jason sure can.

My Quirkiness

One of my quirks is that I love to count things. I count how many stairs I have climbed. I count how many steps I am taking, and I play guessing games with myself. "How many left steps until you make it to the car?" I am weird. To me, life is about numbers (okay, not fully about numbers because there are definitely more important things like the gospel, my husband, my family, etc). How many minutes in a day, how much money is in my account, etc. Some of the other mind games I play are calculating burned calories. I cannot go to the gym and simply workout. I am constantly looking at the screen, computing the average number of calories I burn in a minute. Then I do things like this, "I think if I keep at this pace I can burn 400 calories in 45 minutes." It is like a goal.

When Jason and I went hiking on Thanksgiving, I said to him, "Okay, no talking once we hit maker 1.75. I want to count how many left steps it takes me to hike a mile." He joined in on my "fun." He took 231 left steps to my 269 left steps to complete 1/4 of a mile. Not bad considering he is 15 inches taller than me. Okay, now you all now that I am a nerd, but I think it is good because it is something that I do to keep my brain going. Heavenly Father gave us a brain so I might as well put it to good use. Right?!

Thanksgiving 2009

We started off our day by going on a 7 mile hike. It was very enjoyable. My sister and her family were out of town for two weeks. We were able to watch their dog, Bauer, while they were gone. He did amazing on the hike, and Jason loved having him around. *Side story* One evening I took him on a walk by myself. We were "followed" for two blocks. I was so nervous, and he was acting up also. He could tell something was not right and kept looking back at the car. This car was going the same speed as us for over two blocks. I just kept walking faster and faster. Bauer was very protective, and I knew that he was assessing the situation. Well, it turns out that is was some old lady wanting to know how to get to Highway 51. By the time I had figured this out, I was 100 yards in front of the vehicle, I saw the woman's shadow in her headlights, and I heard her ask "Where is Highway 51?" I did not respond. I was so worked up. My mind was not working properly. All I could think after that was, "Why would you follow someone at night for two blocks, going less than 5 miles an hour and then decide to ask for directions?!" It made no sense to me. *Back to Thanksgiving* After our hike, we went home and prepared dessert and got the ham in the oven for Thanksgiving. Our friends, the Sprinkle's, invited us over. Amy and I decided that we like ham better than turkey. Our Thanksgiving was turkeyless. It was a nice quiet evening with just us and their precious baby girl. Thanks Amy and Wes.

Jason and I did receive a turkey from our Bishop. I have never cooked a turkey better. After a few phone calls to my mom and some You Tube videos that were no help, we had a cooked turkey Saturday evening. It turned out very well. It really is not all that bad once you know what you are doing. Next year, I will not be so hesitant.

Amy's Shower

***I have finally played catch-up...Blogger overload

I was able to help throw a shower for one of my friend's Amy. She had a beautiful baby girl, Sophia, 2 1/2 weeks ago. She got some cute gifts. I love girl stuff. I have been surrounded by girls my whole life. I came from a family of four girls; I was a nanny for four girls. I worry about what kind of job I will do as a mother to boys. They are just so different. Back to the subject at hand, we had fun and I hope Amy enjoyed her shower.
